What is the Gloss of Ordinary Glass?
At present, there are endless layers of glass on the market. The more common glasses are: single-layer glass, hollow glass, tempered glass, cylindrical glass tube, etc. Ordinary flat glass is a relatively traditional glass. With high transparency, high hardness and strong pressure resistance, it is widely used in doors, windows and construction industries. This article mainly describes the general gloss of ordinary glass and also introduces some methods to restore the gloss of glass.
1. What is the gloss of ordinary glass?
In fact, the gloss of ordinary glass does not have a clear range. The results obtained by different measurement angles are different. Glossiness is a physical quantity that evaluates the ability of a material's surface to reflect light under a set of geometrically specified conditions. It has reflective properties with direction selection. We usually say gloss refers to " specular gloss", so the gloss meter is sometimes called "specular gloss meter". The gloss meter is mainly used to evaluate the surface color of processed products. Gloss itself has no unit, GU is short for gloss unit --- gloss unit.
As the surface characteristics of an object, gloss depends on the specular reflection ability of the surface to light. The so-called specular reflection refers to the reflection phenomenon where the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence. If the surface of the object is an optically smooth surface, that is, the surface depression gap is less than 1/16 of the incident wavelength. When the incident light is a parallel beam, the mirror reflection light is also a parallel beam and it is completely unaffected by the color of the object itself. The incident light is white light, the specular reflection light is still white light.
2. What to do if the glass loses its luster?
Most of the reason for the loss of gloss on the glass surface is that the surface is covered with dust and mold, which leads to a decrease in gloss. The glass is often contaminated by greasy, water embroidered, soap scale, etc., especially the seams of the glass are more likely to hide dirt. In order to keep the glass clean without damaging the gloss of the porcelain surface, you can use a multi-functional decontamination paste for cleaning. In the gaps of the glass, you should first use a toothbrush dipped in a small amount of decontamination paste to remove dirt and then use a brush to brush the gap with a water repellent.
● The wire ball hurts the magnetic surface of the glass, other methods can be used to remove the dirt on the glass
● Scrubbing the glass with decontamination powder, the glass will tarnish and make dirt easily. In fact, glass should be washed with detergent solution or detergent and wiped with a towel, do not use scouring pads.
● If the dirt is difficult to remove, then use hot water to dilute the lotion 50 times. Wipe it with a cloth, wear gloves, then use glass bottles to "safe bleach", pour in and dip for a while, Then the water can restore the glass gloss.
3. The glass gloss detection method
Linshang gloss tester is generally used for testing glass gloss. Linshang has two gloss testers, both of which can be used to detect the specific gloss of glass. The measurement range of LS191 gloss meter is from 0-200GU, while the range of another LS192 is from 0-1000GU. For customers, the only difference between these two instruments is the measurement range. When choosing an instrument, we should consider whether the measurement range is enough. In general, low-gloss materials such as frosted glass, paper, leather, plastic, furniture, etc. can be measured using LS191 gloss meter. While high-gloss materials such as metal, mirror material, polished marble can be measured LS192 large range gloss meter.
