The hardware surface treatment method refers to the process of forming a surface layer on the surface of a part that is different from the mechanical, physical and chemical properties of the substrate, so as to meet the functional requirements of product corrosion resistance, wear resistance, decoration, etc. Paint thickness meter is the best partner for surface treatment of hardware!

Common hardware surface treatment methods are polishing, painting and plating

1. Hardware surface polishing

Polishing is widely used in everyday products, especially on products that are prone to pilling and burrs. Polishing not only can maintain the appearance of the product, but also allow users to have a better experience. Polishing is divided into mechanical polishing, chemical polishing and electrolytic polishing.

(A) Mechanical polishing is a polishing method that obtains a smooth surface by cutting and plastically deforming the material surface to remove the raised parts after polishing. Advantages: The surface roughness can reach Ra0.008μm, which is the highest among various polishing methods. This method is often used in optical lens molds.

(B) Chemical polishing is a method of eliminating wear scars, etching and leveling by the selective dissolving effect of chemical reagents on the uneven sample surface.

(C) Electrolytic polishing uses the workpiece to be cast as the anode and insoluble metal as the cathode. Both poles are immersed in the electrolytic bath at the same time. The selective anode dissolution is generated by the direct current ionization reaction, so as to remove the fine burrs on the surface workpiece and increase the brightness. Advantages: no deterioration layer, no additional stress; wide processing range; high production efficiency. It is mainly used for metal products and parts with small surface roughness, such as ornaments, springs, etc.

2. Surface spray paint

Spray painting is widely used in large pieces of hardware. Through spray painting processing, hardware can be prevented from rusting. Special spray painting can also produce other effects to make the product's performance better, such as daily necessities, electrical enclosures, crafts, etc., but the surface of hardware is painted. It is not possible to measure too thick or too thin coating. You can use a paint thickness meter to detect and control the paint thickness on the hardware surface.

3. Hardware surface plating

Electroplating is the most common processing technology to improve the rust prevention performance of products. The measurement of the plating layer thickness is one of the physical properties of the coating. It is also an important indicator for measuring the coating quality, because it will greatly affect the service life of the product. The paint thickness meter is a professional equipment that can be used to detect the thickness of electroplated coatings, paint films, anticorrosive coatings, PCB dry films and various coating thicknesses. Common plating processes are: screws, stamping parts, battery cells, car parts, trinkets, etc. The following are some examples.

(A) Aluminum and aluminum alloy plating process: dewaxing → degreasing → weak corrosion → descaling → sink zinc → dezincification → nickel plating → other plating.

(B) chrome plating process of iron parts: wax removal → hot dip oil removal → cathode → anode → electro-degreasing oil → weak acid etching → nickel → chrome plating or other.

(C) ABS / PC plastic plating process: oil removal → hydrophilic → pre-roughening → roughening → neutralization → whole surface → activation → degumming → chemical nickel plating → copper plating → acid plating → semi-bright plating Nickel → High-sulfur nickel plating → Bright nickel plating → Sealing → Chrome plating

4. Choose a paint thickness meter

LS220H paint thickness meter

Linshang paint thickness metersuse two measuring principles: magnetic thickness measurement principle and eddy current thickness measurement principle. The coating thickness measurement used in the electroplating industry mainly includes LS220H and LS221 paint thickness meters; The paint thickness meter used in the measurement of used car paint film thickness are mainly LS220 and LS220B, which can be easily adjusted to zero. And the LS220B paint thickness meter has a Bluetooth data transmission function, which can transmit multiple sets of measured data to the mobile phone software and produce a test report. It is also the best partner for hardware surface treatment.
