Brushed alumina board is a commonly used material for lamps and lanterns, architectural decoration and exterior wall decoration. Its requirements for color are relatively high. Its color difference can be measured by a professional colorimeter.

1. The importance of the brushed alumina plate color

Society is progressing and people’s demand for material culture is also increasing. In the field of building aluminum alloy profiles and the rapid development of polymer chemistry, the surface treatment technology is diverse and unique. Color requirements are also stricter.

Brushed alumina plate refers to a plate formed on the surface of the aluminum plate by two different treatment processes: drawing and oxidation. Brushed aluminum plate is the manufacturing process of forcing the aluminum plate through the die under the action of external force to pull out the lines. The main process is divided into three parts: deesterification, sand mill and water washing. The aluminum oxide plate is an aluminum plate that is placed in the corresponding electrolyte as the anode. Under specific conditions and applied current, the main process of electrolysis is divided into degreasing, etching, neutralization, anodizing, coloring and sealing.

After drawing and oxidation treatment, the board can show a variety of different appearance colors, mainly divided into basic colors and metallic colors. In recent years, the metal shells of many aluminum plate products have special color requirements to achieve a beautiful effect. In order to control the appearance color quality of the brushed aluminum plate, it can be detected by a colorimeter.

2. How is the color difference of brushed alumina plate formed?

After being used for a period of time, the brushed alumina board will have a certain color change problem. Each company will specify a color difference range and products that meet this range can be regarded as normal products. Therefore, there are many reasons for the color difference of the brushed aluminum plate, mainly including raw materials, processing methods and so on.

The content of metal elements and material texture of different batches of aluminum plates are different. It is difficult to achieve the same effect as the sample after multiple adjustments and sample evaluation during coloring.

During the oxidation process, various factors such as the composition, content, concentration, temperature and processing time of the potion may cause different treatment effects, resulting in color problems in the aluminum plate.

In the closed coloring process of the product, due to the color difference that has existed during the production of the material pre-treatment, the difficulty of sample matching, color matching and color mixing increases.

3. Colorimeter detects the color of brushed alumina plate

The reflective properties of oxidized and colored surfaces of aluminum and aluminum alloys are different from those of other objects (such as opaque pigments). The visible color of the oxidized colored aluminum plate is different from the color of normal objects. Therefore, when measuring the color and color difference of the brushed aluminum oxide plate, there will be confusion.

This is because the color of the brushed alumina plate has a conditional color development property, that is, two identical colors observed under a certain angle or a certain light source will become inconsistent if the viewing angle or light source is changed. For example, when the brushed alumina board is used as the outer wall of a building, due to different environments, weather, time and different viewing angles, the colors seen by the observer will be different. Therefore, if you want to evaluate the color of the brushed alumina board, you need to standardize the color difference measurement standards. The more objective way is to use a colorimeter.

Under the specified observation conditions, the agreed color standard is used as a reference. Use a colorimeter to determine the degree of color difference between the brushed alumina plate and the agreed color standard and evaluate whether the product color meets the color difference standard with L*a*b* color difference data.
