Application of Coating Thickness Gauge in PCBA Industry

PCBA,also known as printed circuit boards, are important electronic components which used in a variety of industries.PCBA is called a printed circuit board because of the variety of lines on the board.Therefore,waterproof,anti-corrosion and moisture-proof functions of PCBA become the core.Because these three processes are not qualified or the coating is not up to standard,it will affect the function of electronic products, even occur short circuits,which may cause damage to electronic products.So we need to use a coating thickness gauge to detect the coating thickness.

1.PCBA waterproof structure layer

(1) Structural waterproof

Simply put,it is designed as a reasonable structure of hydrophobic drainage on the PCBA.Of course, complicated wiring will increase the cost of the mold. The method of sealing the ring is to block from the outside and it can also achieve the purpose of moisture proof.

(2) Potting glue waterproof

 The most common way of this method is to use epoxy resin potting glue to wrap the entire PCBA in order to achieve waterproof,moisture-proof,mold-proof and other purposes.The disadvantage is that it is not conducive to heat dissipation.The biggest trouble is that the product has almost no possibility of repairing.Maintenance costs are high.

2.PCBA waterproof and moisture-proof coating

(1) Conformal paintings

  Conformal paintings,also known as circuit board protection oil,insulating paint, moisture-proof paint, conformal paintings are generally thicker.With the coating thickness gauge,the measurement will reach 50μm.If the coating is too thin, the effect of moisture or insulation is not good. The product may be short-circuited or even scrapped.

(2) PCBA nano moisture-proof coating

 The nano-moisture-proof coating of the board is a new material and is currently a substitute for three anti-paints.The thickness tested by coating thickness gauge is only 2-4 μm.This material form a thin web on the surface of the PCBA.The nano-moisture-proof coating has good heat dissipation performance and does not affect the normal conductive, anti-corrosion and acid-base salt.

3. PCBA anti-corrosion coating

    The most common method is an immersion nano-coating,which is typically 2-4 μm thick tested by a coating thickness gauge.The thickness of the conformal paintings, waterproof glue tested by coating thickness gauges is generally 50 μm.
