We know that as long as the fire-resistant coating relies on the internal chemical reaction of the coating to swell the coating after the fire, the purpose of delaying the fire time is achieved. Time is saved for people to escape. Today we use paint thickness gauges to measure the thickness of fire-resistant coatings and study the performance of different fire-resistant coatings at the same temperature.

1. Selection of raw materials and preparation of coatings

  1. Select polymer emulsion and water-based intumescent fireproof coating, and the same type of adhesive.

  2. Coating preparation, using high-speed dispersion. Select fire-resistant materials and meet the requirements of foaming performance.

  3. Production of water-resistant samples for coatings. Two cold plates with a password of 150 mm * 75mm * 2mm are selected. After the surface is cleaned, they are sprayed with epoxy zinc-rich antirust paint twice. After drying for 48 hours, the surface is coated with fire-resistant paint. The first coat thickness is measured with a paint thickness gauge  not exceeding 0.2mm, and can be applied again after one day and one night. The coating thickness is measured with a paint thickness gauge  not exceeding 0.4mm. The interval between each pass is more than 5 hours. The final thickness of the coating is (2.0 ± 0.2) mm after repeated brushing, and the test can be performed after the greenhouse is cured for 15D.

When the coating is the same, the coating is different, and the thickness of the fire-resistant coating is different, the polymer emulsion is not only an adhesive for water-based coatings. It is also the main carbon source for coating swelling. The basic safety of the coating is unchanged. Different coatings of polymer emulsions will have different effects.

2. Linshang paint thickness gauge

LS223 paint thickness gauge

From the above experimental data, it is known that the thickness of the fire-resistant coating or anti-corrosion coating measured by a paint thickness gauge is generally large when conducting experiments. Especially the fire-resistant coating and anti-corrosive coating are relatively thick, so we need a wide range paint thickness gauge when measuring its coating thickness.

Linshang LS223 + F5N3 paint thickness gauge is a wide range instrument with a maximum range of 5mm. This paint thickness gauge adopts the main body and probe split design, which can be used in engineering sites and laboratories, as well as in small spaces. You can view the data while measuring, making the measurement very convenient.
