1. Influencing factors of plate spray paint gloss

In order to improve the appearance quality of the board, the paint gloss of the board is required. However, many factors such as the flatness of the surface, the quality of the paint and the spraying process will affect the gloss of the board after painting.

(1) Substrate

The smoothness of the painted plate surface has a great influence on the gloss after painting. If the surface of the board is uneven and there are too many pores, the gloss of the board will be reduced after painting.

(2) Spray paint quality

The gloss of different paints is different and the spraying effect of using high-gloss paint and matte paint is different.

(3) Spraying process

When spraying, due to the different spraying rates and different fixing efficiency, paint film thickness on the plate surface is uneven, which affects the gloss.

2. What to do if the paint is dull?

If the board is not painted, there are two aspects to consider.

(1) The quality of the lacquer is not good

The selected paint itself is not high in gloss, the surface will lose its luster after spraying.

(2) Spraying process

Any loss of light is due to the unevenness of the surface, which causes excessive diffuse scattering of light and loses the clarity of the reflected image. Therefore, the unevenness of the substrate or the sprayed paint film may cause the paint to be dull. In order to improve the gloss of spray paint, you can choose coating products with excellent weather resistance.

3. Testing method for gloss of painted panels

In order to accurately evaluate the gloss of the paint sprayed on the board, a gloss tester can be used for testing. The gloss of the painted surface refers to the degree of reflection of the surface to visible light. It is a physical quantity that evaluates the ability to reflect light on the painted surface of the plate under the specified geometric conditions and has direction selectivity. At present, the gloss tester on the market is basically a relative measurement of the specular gloss.

gloss tester

Such as the Linshang LS192 use 60-degree angle light source projection. During measurement, place the gloss tester on the painted surface of the plate. Through the light source and receiver opening angle conditions, the ratio of the reflected light luminous flux in the specular reflection direction to the reflected light luminous flux of the glass standard in the specular reflection direction is converted into data by electronic calculation and displayed on the LCD screen of the instrument. The display interface of the LS192 gloss tester has a statistical function, which can display the maximum, minimum, average and standard deviation values of the test. This feature can be used to analyze the uniformity of the painted panel surface gloss.
