II. UV Energy Meter Details

1. UV Energy Meter with Integrated Probe

The integrated square or disc UV energy meter is suitable for testing on the conveyor belt of equipment such as curing machine. The instrument supports both automatic and manual modes. In the automatic mode, a certain trigger power value can be set for the UV energy meter. When the ultraviolet intensity received by the instrument is greater than this trigger value, the measurement will start automatically. This mode is suitable for the case where the production line is long but the UV curing time is short. At present, there are six integrated UV energy meters, LS120, LS128, LS130, LS131, LS136 and LS137. The product features and parameters are as follows:

  • Measure energy, power, measurement duration and power curve

  • Connect PC software through USB interface to export and print test reports.

  • Ensure that it passes the inspection of the authoritative measuring authority

2. UV Energy Meter with External Probe

The UV Energy meter with external probe is often used for the fixed point test of the ultraviolet light source. The connection between the UV light meter and the probe provides flexible measurement. At present, Linshang Technology mainly has four UV light meter with external probe: LS125+UVA, LS125+UVALED, LS125+UVALED-X1, LS126A

(1) LS125 UVA Light Tester for Mercury Lamp

LS125 UVA Light Tester for Mercury Lamp is a split-type UV Energy Meter that measures the intensity and energy of high-pressure mercury lamps. It has a snap-on probe and a 1-meter cable. In addition to the UVA probe, the instrument can also be adapted to other 8 probes for other bands of ultraviolet light, including UVA, UVB,  and UVC.

3. Online UV Intensity and Energy Measurement Probe

LS129 Online UV Energy Meter is an ultra-small intelligent UV digital probe that can be used in a variety of applications where real-time monitoring of UV power values and energy is required. It has a standard RS485 communication interface and MODBUS communication protocol. It is convenient to communicate directly with PLC, human-machine interface, computer and other equipment, realizing data real-time collection and monitoring. Linshang Technology currently offers two different UV probes, LS129-UVA and LS129-UVALED.

III. FAQ about Linshang UV Energy Meter

  1. 1. Why should the UV energy meter be divided into mercury lamps and UV LED? If both sources are available, do I need to buy 2 UV energy meters?

    1. The spectrum of the mercury lamp and the LED light source are different. When measuring, choose the instrument that matches the spectrum of the light source. If the spectrum of the light source is inconsistent with the response spectrum of the instrument, the measured data is not accurate.

    2. 99% of the UV energy meters on the market are designed for high pressure mercury lamps. They are only suitable for measuring the energy and intensity values of 365nm wavelength. The LED light source has various bands such as 365 nm, 375 nm, 385 nm, 395 nm and 405 nm. For LED light sources, LED-specific UV energy meters are required.

    3. If you do not want to buy two UV energy meters, use a LED dedicated UV energy meter to detect the mercury lamp, the test data is still stable but the data will be too large. Except that it can not pass the inspection of the metrology institute, there is no problem with the quality control in the production process. Using a mercury lamp dedicated UV energy meter to measure LED lights, the data will be too small.

  2. 2. Can gallium lamps, iron lamps, xenon lamps, etc. be measured?

    If you are measuring non-LED type light sources, we recommend using LS120, LS130, LS125+UVA UV energy meters which are suitable for testing mercury and halogen lamps. These instruments are guaranteed to pass the inspection of the National Metrology Institute.

  3. 3. Does Linshang UV energy meter provide traceable reports or measurement certificates?

    1. Our UV energy meter comes with a factory inspection report to ensure the accuracy of the data.

    2. UV energy meters suitable for detecting high-pressure mercury lamps are in compliance with national standards and can be tested by third parties. If you need a third-party calibration report, you can send it yourself or we can send it on your behalf, but the cost is your responsibility.

    3. There is no national standard for UV energy meters suitable for detecting LED light sources. UV energy meter suppliers use their own standards to calibrate instruments. There is no uniform calibration regulation for inspection and measurement institutes. We do not recommend inspection.

  4. 4. The instruments that test UV LED light sources are all calibrated at 395nm. Is the data for testing 365nm LED light sources accurate?

    1. The spectral response curve of the instrument we tested for UVA LED light source is very stable between 365nm and 405nm. No matter what band the LED is, there is no problem. We calibrate the machine at 395nm LED light source.

    2. The UV energy meter for testing LED light sources does not have relevant national standards, so the accuracy of the data cannot be measured by national standards. As a professional UV energy meter supplier, Linshang Technology has established strict factory inspection specifications to ensure that the data can meet the manufacturer's standard when detecting the 365-405nm LED light source.

  5. 5. What is the difference between the data of Linshang LS120 and LS128 UV energy meters and EIT?

    1. According to our testing experience, when comparing the UVICURE Plus II with Linshang LS120 UV energy meter to test the high pressure mercury lamp. Under the same test conditions, the LS120 test data is about 10%-40% lower. But the data of LS120 UV power puck can pass the inspection of Chinese national metrology institute.

    2. At present, there is no relevant standard in the UV LED industry. The UV energy meter suppliers are calibrated by their own standards and the data is indeed different. Our company is the first UV power puck supplier in the world to introduce LED UV energy meter. EIT LED-specific UV power puck is three years behind our launch.

  6. 6. Can the LS129 UV digital probe provide a device to display data?

    If you don't need to connect a computer or a PLC, you can also purchase the HMI directly from our company.

  7. 7. Why is the Linshang UV energy meter so expensive?

    1. The price of Linshang UV energy meter is indeed higher than the energy meter of some domestic brands.

    2. But our UV energy meter can test the intensity value, energy value, temperature. The meter can also display the intensity graph and temperature graph. The instrument also comes with computer software, you can connect to the computer to print test reports. EIT cheapest single-band UV energy meter has only one intensity graph and cost 9000RMB.
